2020 Fall Course Offerings
3rd/5th/8th Grade Test Strategy Preparation
In the past 20 years, APLUS has developed a very effective prep curriculum structure that has helped thousands of students achieved their academic goal of being accepted into the elite magnet programs in both Montgomery and Fairfax County. This prep class covers very extensive practice questions that not only help students understand the math concepts they have learned but also provide an excellent opportunity to practice testing strategies and techniques. This prep is also extremely helpful for students who plan to take private school admission tests like SSAT or ISEE or even for students who would like to get a head start on the SAT and sharpen their test-taking skills and techniques. Writing Workshop and Intensive Essay Writing (IEW)
In the 2020 Fall semester, we will offer our flagship Writing Workshops on Saturday mornings and Thursday evenings. The following is the course offerings:

- Intensive Essay Writing - 1
- Intensive Essay Writing - 2
- Intensive Essay Writing - 3
- Intensive Essay Writing - 4
The seven levels of writing classes at APLUS Learning Center are aimed to provide students with opportunities to focus on the skills and the practice of writing. The programs help students learn:
§ to read more challenging literature with greater skill,
§ to write more complex and mature compositions,
§ to develop independent analytical skills, and
§ to develop disciplined study habits for continued academic success.
In comparison to regular academic school English courses, APLUS writing courses are more demanding, challenging, and focused. Details can be found in the "Enrichment - Writing" tab.
Math Enrichment
Our goal is to provide students with a firm foundation in Math, whether it's to bolster what they are learning in school or to get ahead. The following courses are offered Saturday mornings from 11:15am-01:15pm and 06:00-08:00pm on Tuesday evenings:
- Math 4/5
- Pre Algebra 1 (Math 6)
- Pre Algebra 2 (I.M.)
- Algebra 1
- Geometry
- Algebra 2
- AMC 8
NEW: AMC 8 - this class will help students sharpen their math problem-solving and critical thinking skills as well as prepare them for the AMC 8/MATHCOUNTS competition.
Students attending Writing Workshop and Math Enrichment classes are placed based on their ability level. Students therefore are advised to take a placement test to ensure the placement is appropriate.
SAT 1600
This class is one of its kind, aiming to provide an opportunity where students can learn and practice SAT in a more focused and thorough way. This class is designated for rising 9th and 10th graders and has a duration of 16 weeks and meets 3 hours per week. With almost double the amount of time of a normal SAT crash course, the materials and coverage of this course are extensive. Students will be well prepared for their SAT test upon completing this course. This SAT1600 is offered on Saturday 09:30am-12:30pm.
